Clarkson University Visit

When I made the appointement for an interview and tour I didn't realize then that it was Easter weekend, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the campus abuzz with activity yesterday. In fact as we toured the engineering building several of the 4 hands on projects had students working on them at 10 am on Saturday morning! There was the Baja car, the Formual One car and the water filtration project. The students in each of these groups were happy to tell us about their projects. In addition there was an aeronautical project, an electric snowmobile and an electric car project. We toured a few of the dorms, the eateries (the food is actually good which is very important to Dan), the sports center and the classrooms. We even saw a one minute sales pitch competition at the business school. The campus is lovely with beautiful views. It sits by the Raquette River and near the Adirondacks, and Potsdam itself is a small very self sufficient town that also houses SUNY Potsdam. The class sizes are small and the students are not just a number. The job placement rate was 98% last  year despite the economy. We were all very impressed, in fact Mike was so impressed that he has decided to become an engineer so he can attend Clarkson in 2012! Actually Clarkson does offer other majors but it is best known for it's engineering school. The admissions gal was very impressed with Dan, so hopefully she will remember him when his application comes across her desk next October!
