I finally started the other thrummed mitten so that John will have it in time for the winter. I figure since I have the wrist completed, chances are the rest will follow after a few more baseball games. And speaking of baseball, the inconsistency of the NY Mets is driving me batty. They win 10 of their last 12 and then lose the next two. And last night? Holy cow, thirteen innings with the score tied up at 7-7. never mind that the Mets were winning 7 to NOTHING earlier. And then they lost to Philly, who is close on their heels and actually now in the number one spot. Two more games to go in that series and it's a very important two games. The mets excuse? Bullpen injuries and one cather. Woe is me.
My carder will arrive today!! There will be photos of course! Here's some the wool all washed up and drying outside, that Tom sheared from a lamb. It's lovely, but short. Anyone have any ideas of a good project with wool that has a staple of about a little over an inch?

Subway Series

The New York Mets trounced the Yankees two games in a row in the subway Series this weekend with one game left to go later today. Last night's game was amazing with the final score being 11-2 despite a blatant error by one of the umps which lost them a 3 run homer! The ump actually overruled the other umpire when the ball ricocheted off the foul pole. the pitcher, Perez was brilliant and Jose Reyes came out of his slump with a homer in both games.

Some Knitting
I am making my first pair of ankle socks out of some stashed yarn that my Secret Pal gave me awhile ago. It's my first pair with yarn that was not grown or spun by me. It's Sockotta, the Plymouth Italian Collection, lot 90U. It's 45% cotton, 40% superwash wool and 15% nylon. This has been my baseball knitting..speaking of which the Mets pitcher hit two doubles last night! This is the pitcher remember! Maybe this is why Johan Santana is the highest paid pitcher in the league?

Mets Opener
![]()
The New York Mets opened the season with a bang yesterday! They beat the Florida Marlins 7-2 and their ace new pitcher Santana was everything everyone hoped he would be, with eight strikeouts, two walks and three hits. I would have loved to have seen the game. For years I went to the openers at Shea, but a trip to Florida wasn't on the cards. Oddly enough I used to live very near the Marlins stadium. I don't know anyone near there anymore so we would have had to find some good hotel deals nearby. The Sports Channel is even broadcasting away games in HD now so I will definitely be watching most of the games. I should get some spinning and knitting done in between innings!

He's Defected

Well not really, but he's as disgusted as I am. Tom was in the house over an hour wearing that thing on his head and I never noticed! But you know, even tho' he was kidding, the Mets at this point do not deserve to win the division. The pitcher hit THREE players in one inning Friday night. Delgado was jogging around the bases after an error by the Phillies. The Phillies deserve to take the lead and they probably will. "Nuff said!

Mets?
Well the Mets could have the dubious distinction of being the first team in the history of baseball to have lead by such a huge margin in their division, only to not win the pennant. I know it ain't over yet BUT, the way the Mets have been playing, and blowing sizable leads, makes you wonder. It's been so frustrating to watch. So much so, that I haven't. The pitching is letting them down. The errors are letting them down. Philadelphia is creeping ever closer. A bright spot in the otherwise depressing sky, is Moises Alou. He has broken a Mets record by hitting in thirty consecutive games! That is fantastic and he is no spring chicken. There is hope but it's getting too close for comfort.

Go Mets
The Mets are hot again, 5 games ahead of Philly and 6 ahead of Atlanta. Next week they play both teams so those games will be key. They have been in first place for 98 days. I am really hoping they will go all the way this time.
Pictured above is the star of the team, Joes Reyes, altho' of late his hitting has been a little off. He has 69 steals and is so much fun to watch.
I have watched most of the games this year. The only ones I miss generally are the games out West where they start at 10pm. Otherwise I watch them all. It's a shame that when I lived in CT and had season Saturday tickets to the games, that the Mets stunk.
Meanwhile my husband just told me that Texas is beating Baltimore 30 to 3!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mets Pitcher Scores a 2 Run Homer

John Maine, the young Mets pitcher in his second season in the majors scored a two run homer a few hours ago. WEEEHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. That's a big deal for a pitcher,a young pitcher no less and his first extra base hit!
Yes I am a big Mets fan. When we lived in CT, we had season Saturday tickets to the Mets at Shea, but back then they stunk.
This was a great moment to watch live.
